Future
I never think of the future. It comes soon enough. |
The future is called "perhaps," which is the only possible thing to call the future. And the only important thing is not to allow that to scare you.
Our faith in the present dies out long before our faith in the future.
I believe the future is only the past again, entered through another gate.
We should all be concerned about the future because we will have to spend the rest of our lives there.
Carry on! Carry on!
But show that you haven't a cowardly streak,
And though you're unlucky you never are weak.
Carry on! Carry on!
Brace up for another attack.
It's looking like hell, but - you never can tell;
Carry on, old man! Carry on!
There are some who drift out in the deserts of doubt,
And some who in brutishness wallow;
There are others, I know, who in piety go
Because of a Heaven to follow.
But to labor with zest, and to give of your best,
For the sweetness and joy of the giving;
To help folks along with a hand and a song;
Why, there's the real sunshine of living.
Carry on! Carry on!
Fight the good fight and true;
Believe in you mission, greet life with a cheer;
There's big work to do, and that's why you are here.
Carry on! Carry on!
Let the world be the better for you;
And at last when you die, let this be your cry:
Carry on, my soul! Carry on!
Carry On!!
It's easy to fight when everything's right,
And you're mad with the thrill and the glory;
It's easy to cheer when victory's near,
And wallow in fields that are gory.
It's a different song when everything's wrong.
When you're feeling infernally mortal;
When it's ten against one, and hope there is none,
Buck up, little soldier, and chortle:

Count Your Blessings
Count your blessings instead of your crosses;
Count your gains instead of your losses.
Count your joys instead of your woes;
Count your friends instead of your foes.
Count your smiles instead of your tears;
Count your courage instead of your fears.
Count your full years instead of your lean;
Count your kind deeds instead of your mean.
Count your health instead of your wealth;
Love your neighbor as much as yourself.
Poet Unknown
You cannot change the world
But you can present the world with one improved person -
Yourself.
You can go to work on yourself to make yourself
Into the kind of person you admire and respect.
You can become a role model and set a standard for others.
You can control and discipline yourself to resist acting
Or speaking in a negative way
Toward anyone for any reason.
You can insist upon always doing things the loving way,
Rather than the hurtful way.
By doing these things each day,
You can continue on your journey
Toward becoming an exceptional human being.
Life's Completeness
A love that lasts forever:
A friendship naught can sever;
A courage never failing,
Though evil seems prevailing;
And jouyous, radiant living,
Made glorious by its giving;
A faith strong and enduring,
Unworthy thoughts obscuring;
And eyes for seeing beauty
In work, in play, in duty;
Life ever onward flowing
And more abundant growing;
Love, courage, faith, and sweetness
To make up life's completeness.

Anyway
People are unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered.
Love them anyway!
If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Do good anyway!
If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway!
The good you do today, will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway!
Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway!
The biggest person with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest people with the smallest minds;
Think big anyway!
People favor underdogs, but follow only top dogs.
Fight for underdogs anyway!
What you spend years building up may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway!
People really need help, but will attack you if you help them.
Help them anyway!
Give the world the best you have and it may kick you in the teeth.
Give the world the best you've got anyway!

BLAMING
The foolish always blame others,
Thus creating silent enemies and disasters.
The clever always blame themselves,
Thus gaining sympathy but also doubt.
The wise blame no one,
Understanding that no one
Sincerely wants to commit a mistake,
But does so because of a lack of knowledge, or limited choices or chance.
They inspire improvements in all companions.
FAITH
The foolish believe in their first perception,
Leaving no space for another.
The clever disbelieve their first perception,
Seeking more experience and tasting some truth.
The wise disregard their first perceptions
And seek the truth.

CLASSIFYING PEOPLE
The foolish classify people by their certificates.
They know only the trademarks of life.
The clever classify people by their abilities.
They know only the qualities of life.
The wise classify people by their charity.
They know the true values of life.
CLASSIFYING PEOPLE
The foolish classify people by their certificates.
They know only the trademarks of life.
The clever classify people by their abilities.

The wise classify people by their charity.
They know the true values of life.
DEALING WITH PROBLEMS
The foolish do one bad deed to get rid of problems,
Doubling their troubles.
The clever perform good deeds to get rid of problems;
Gain happiness but also exhaustion.
The wise liberate themselves from all problems.
Attaining perpetual cheerfulness.
Where does this come from?
No fear, no surprise, no hesitation, no doubt
Where does this come from? It’s from a seventeenth – century samurai warrior. This was his four point key to successful living and swordsmanship.
No fear
There should be nothing in life that you are afraid of. If there is, you might need to do some work on overcoming that fear. Here I have to confess to a certain fear of heights. I avoid high places if I can. Recently, owing to leaky gutters, I had to crawl out on our roof- three floors up with a very long drop on one side. I gritted my teeth and kept repeating, ‘No fear, no fear’, until the job was done. Oh yes, and of course I didn’t look down. Whatever you fear, face it head on and defeat it.
No surprise
Life seems to be full of them doesn’t it? You’re going along swimmingly and suddenly something huge rears up ahead of you. But if you look carefully, there were clues all along the way that it was going to happen. No surprise there then. Whatever you situation now, it is going to change. No surprises there. So why does life seem to surprise us then? Because we are asleep half the time. Wake up and nothing can sneak up on you.
No hesitation
Weigh up the odds and then just get on with it. If you hang back, the opportunity will have passed. If you spend too long thinking, you’ll never make a move. Once we have looked at the options, we make a choice, a decision and then go for it. That’s the secret. No hesitation means not waiting around for other people to help out or make up our minds for us. No hesitation means if there is certain inevitability about a situation then just throw yourself in head first and enjoy the ride. If there is nothing to be done then waiting doesn’t help.
No doubt
Once you have made your mind up about something, don’t go over it again and again. Stop thinking and enjoy- relax and let go. Stop worrying. Tomorrow will come along as certainly as it can. There is no doubt about life. It just is. Be confident. Be committed. Be sure of yourself. Once you have committed yourself to a set course, a path, a plan, then follow it through. Have no doubt it was the right thing to do and no doubt that you will succeed. Get on with it and trust your judgment completely.

About Life…
Poems about Life
" In a man's life, his time is but a moment, his being a mere flux, his senses a dim glimpse,
his body food for the worms, and his soul a restless eddy …
the things of the body pass like a flowing stream;
life is a brief sojourn, and one's mark in this world is soon forgotten."
Marcus Aurelius
" Out, out, brief candle!
Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more. It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing."
William Shakespeare
- Macbeth, 1606

Something’s started to happen
Never before, yes, yes, never before have I been in such state.
My sleep's gone; I've lost my peace.
Something's started here, yes, something's started to happen.
Never before, yes, yes, never before have I been in such state.
My sleep's gone; I've lost my peace.
Something's started here, yes, something's started to happen.
This is the first sensation of love…
How can I explain to you what this desire is,
why it has started to torment me, why it's made my heart race?
My heart's started to weave a dream.
Something's started here, yes, something's started to happen.
Beloved, after meeting you on the road…
all the desire of my heart were fulfilled.
Now no distance remains between us, darling;
I've started to sleep beneath the locks of your hair.
Something's started here, yes, something's started to happen.
Never before, yes, yes, never before have I been in such a state.
My sleep's gone; I've lost my peace.
Something's started here, yes, something's started to happen.
Yes, something's started here.
Yes, something's started to happen.

Whose footstep is this?
Whose footstep is this?
Whose shadow is this? | |
There was a knock at my heart;
who entered here? | |
Who spread this vibrant color over me?
I died from happiness, my happiness killed me
It killed me... | |
Who spread this vibrant color over me?
I died from happiness; | |
it killed me... | |
God, it killed me... | |
The moon did not decorate my palm,
nor did I contract any relationship with the stars.
Nor did I make any complaint of God...
I hid every sorrow; | |
with laughter I bore each injustice.
I even embraced thorns,
and was wounded by flowers.
Yes, but when I raised my hands in prayer,
I begged God for you! | |
God, I begged for you! | |
Who spread this vibrant color over me?
I died from happiness; | |
it killed me... | |
God, it killed me... | |
killed me... | |
Whose footstep is this?
Whose shadow is this? | |
There was a knock at my heart;
who entered here? |

my story will be over in a few seconds.
My laughter is only for a moment or two;
my youth will be over in a few moments.
I'm a poet only for a second or two.
Many poets came before me, and after coming, departed;
some went filled with sighs,
and some went singing songs.
They were only the story of a moment in time;
I too am only the story of a moment.
Tomorrow I will be separated from you,
but for today, I'm a part of you.
I'm a poet of a moment or two, no more.
Tomorrow new songs will arrive,
freshly bloomed blossoms to be plucked.
There will be better storytellers than me,
and better listeners than you.
Tomorrow, someone might remember me;
but why should anyone remember me?
For my sake, why should this busy world
waste its time?
I'm a poet only for a moment or two.
